Pastor Maggie Rourk, Rector
The Rev. Dr. Maggie Rourk is a rostered minister of the North Carolina Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). Thanks to the full communion agreement between the ELCA and the Episcopal Church, Pr. Maggie has served Messiah since April 2017.
She attended Furman University, graduated from Greensboro College, and did graduate studies at both The Citadel and the College of Charleston. She earned her Master of Divinity degree from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry degree from the Lutheran Seminary in Philadelphia (doctoral thesis in theology and homiletics).
Since her ordination in 1987, Pr. Maggie has served Lutheran and Episcopal parishes in South Carolina, Virginia, and Oregon. She also spent twelve years as Director of Church and Public Relations and editor of seminary publications for Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary.
Pr. Maggie spent 50 wonderful years with her late husband David. She has two sons, Edwin (Beth) and Matthew (April), plus grandchildren Tiernan, Santana, and Jason.
